Raj Kundra’s Past Legal Troubles
Raj Kundra, a London-based businessman, has faced multiple allegations in recent years. In July 2021, he was arrested on charges of producing and distributing pornographic content through mobile apps. Later, in 2022, the Enforcement Directorate filed a money laundering case against him.
According to reports, Kundra launched a company named Arms Prime Media Limited in 2019 and developed the app Hotshots. The app was later sold to a UK-based company called Kenrin, run by his brother-in-law Pradeep Bakshi. These controversies have kept Raj Kundra in constant legal trouble. (Hindustan Times)
The ₹60.48 Crore Fraud Case
The major reason behind the rejection of the Shilpa Shetty Raj Kundra Phuket trip plea was the fresh fraud case registered against the couple. On August 14, the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Mumbai Police filed a case involving an alleged ₹60.48 crore fraud.
According to the complaint, businessman Deepak Kothari accused Raj Kundra, Shilpa Shetty, and their company Best Deal TV Private Limited of cheating him in a loan-cum-investment deal. Kothari claimed that he was introduced to Raj by a mutual friend, and later lost a huge sum in the deal.Hindustan Times
Court’s Stand on the Phuket Trip
With this new case under investigation, the Mumbai High Court refused to allow their international travel. The judge noted that with such allegations, it was not appropriate to grant permission at this stage. Thus, the Shilpa and Raj’s Phuket trip plea was dismissed.

The couple, known for their glamour and wealth, now face serious legal battles. While Shilpa Shetty continues to remain a popular Bollywood actress, Raj Kundra’s name has been repeatedly linked with controversies.
